My thanks to Neil T of The Royal High School, who has pointed out a couple of interesting websites.
The first is a blog run by Peter Rowlett of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (IMA), detailing his various activities and also containing the regular podcasts “Travels in a Mathematical World”. Maths in your ipod – what’s not to like?
Secondly, the related website Maths Careers contains all manner of useful materials to interest students in S4 and upwards – particularly if you are looking to “sell” a Higher or Advanced Higher course to pupils!

Thank you for the link! I mention on a blog post “Talk to Scottish Branch” http://travelsinamathematicalworld.blogspot.com/2009/02/talk-to-scottish-branch.html
It’s good to know someone got something out of my talk!
Thanks Peter – look forward to taking a look at this.
Good to see that the Maths Careers website mentioned above has had a revamp this week.
Lots of new content, and excellent downloadable posters and leaflets available via the rather inconspicuous ‘Teachers’ and ‘Careers Advisers’ links at the top of each page!
